Maurice SENDAK. Portfolio, with a signed print
Sendak, Maurice (1928-2012). Pictures by Maurice Sendak. New York: Harper and Row, 1971. First edition. Boxed portfolio, 26.5 in x 17.25 in. Some light foxing to some of the sheets, but overall a near fine set in a lightly worn box.
A very large portfolio containing 20 separate prints of varying size and a booklet, presented in an ornately decorated clamshell case. One of an edition of 500 sets, signed on a limitation sheet tipped to the interior of the box lid. The prints include 19 reproductions from books including "In the Night Kitchen," and "Where the Wild Things Are," and a previously unpublished pencil drawing of Jennie, the terrier who posed for "Higglety Pigglety Pop." The picture of Jennie is signed by the artist in pencil. A sumptuous production.
