Born in Michigan and raised in Puerto Rico, Bradford Verter apprenticed as a teenager with Fantasy Archives (Erik Kramer) and the Phoenix Bookshop (Robert Wilson) in New York City. He established Carpe Librum around 1989 or so, with a initial specialty in genre fiction and modern first editions. We have since expanded our offerings to encompass rare books and manuscripts in a variety of fields.
We take special pleasure in locating historically significant materials of unique provenance. We have placed rare books and archival materials with many distinguished private collections as well as with a wide range of leading research institutions, including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, the Library of Congress, the Bodleian Library, and the British Library.
