Jorge Luis Borges and Richard Burgin. Conversations with Jose Luis Borges (1969)
Borges, Jorge Luis (1899-1986) and Richard Burgin (b. 1947) Conversations With Jorge Luis Borges. New York: Holt Rinehart Winston, 1969. First edition. Review copy, with extensive additional materials laid in. About fine in dustwrapper.
A wonderful collection of interviews conducted by Richard Burgin when he was an undergraduate at Brandeis. “[Borges] always makes you feel that it is he who is the grateful one," Burgin wrote, "and that your company is the only gift he needs.” This is a review copy sent to the editor of Laurel Editions, an imprint of Dell Books, in an attempt to sell the paperback rights. Laurel declined, and the book would not be issued in paperback until 1988, when it was reprinted by the University Press of Mississippi.
