An insider's guide to the movie business, circa 1936

     An early draft of the book published as Talking Pictures: How They are Made, How to Appreciate Them (Richmond, VA: Johnson Publishing Co., 1937). This draft, which appears to have been produced for internal review, differs significantly from the published version and . Kiesling began his career in Tinseltown in 1922 as Publicity Director for Realart Pictures. From 1924 to 1927 he worked exclusively for Cecil B. DeMille. After brief stints at the Producers Distributing Corporation and Pathé, he joined Metro Goldwyn Mayer in 1928. He would work there until his retirement in 1960.
